After landing in the Paris airport around 8:00 A.M. (Paris time), we headed through security to the next terminal. Once we were there, we had an hour or so to get lunch and coffee and wait for the next flight.
We then flew to Athens to meet up with Professor Fitzpatrick at the airport and arrived around 5:00 P.M. (Athens time), after flying over the beautiful Italian Alps. We rode a bus to our lodgings and got settled in before dinner. We had fun taking in the city of Athens from the view in the bus. It is a different kind of city from what we are used to. Primarily the building structures are different. There are more small buildings; we didn't encounter a skyline as high as Atlanta or New York. Many people ride motorcycles and similar vehicles. For dinner we ate at First Evangelical Church of Athens and spent time with Pastor Giotis; we will get to know him throughout the trip.
After dinner, some of the group returned to our rooms, and some went to the Acropolis. We saw the Parthenon and stood on Mars Hill. From there we had a beautiful 360 degree view of Athens and the surrounding mountains and historical landmarks. It was a beautiful nighttime view.
